Our chosen breed of livestock guardian dog is the Central Asian Shepherd, also know as the Alabai or the Central Asian Ovtcharka.  These dogs are one of the most primitve dog breeds, originating in Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and surrounding areas. Today many of these dogs are imported from Romania, which is where the sire and dam of two of are working dogs were hand selected by an established breeder here in Georgia. Our other working dogs also come from a reputable breeder here in Georgia, we got our very first CAS from her and fell in love with this speical breed. We may choose to breed a litter on occasion to help preserve this special working dog breed. These dogs have a double coat and are used to extreme heat and cold due to the natural habitiat that they are from. We feel as if that makes them an excellent breed to keep in Georgia, given our erradic weather. Additionnaly; with their coat being much more low maintinence than other working breeds, it sure make a great fit for our needs!
